The Good Soldier Svejk
My wife's grandfather gave me this coaster he picked up during a 2002 trip to Prague, the capital city of his homeland. It features a drawing of the Czech folk hero Svejk, from Jaroslav Hasek's lengendary tale, The Good Soldier Svejk. The image on the coaster is plucked from one of the book's original illustrations by Josef Lada. On the back of the coaster, written in czech, it reads 6pm in the evening: drinking time. Amen to that, Svejk.
I love Hasek's character, Lada's drawings, and pretty much anything to do with beer. So this coaster is a treasure to me. Thanks Pappy.
