A group of Toronto artists, including myself, will be exhibiting 3D pieces at the "Deep Inside" art show, which is launching at the Bloor Cinema on Monday the 11th. The art show is coupled with a screening of The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
The artists supplied black and white line drawings to master screenprinter Michael Viglione (www.studioxix.com), who broke the work down into 3D layers. He was able to send some of the linework into the background, while making other parts jut into the foreground. When the two depths cross-over, it's a dramatic effect reminiscent of classic "magic eye" images. I stopped by yesterday to sign some prints, and was really impressed by the work.
The show is Curated by Rafi Ghanaghounian. 3D glasses supplied with admission.
Participating artists:
Steve Manale, Steve Wilson, Aaron Leighton, Clayton Hanmer, Fiona Smyth, Gary Taxali, Adam Swinbourne, Christopher Hutsul, Charlene Chua, and Michael Comeau.
